STRATI-TEX: THE FABRIC AT THE HEART OF STRATI
At the heart of Strati is a belief that performance can be improved through the smallest details. Every stitch, seam and material is considered with purpose, with the aim of finding solutions to the problems athletes face, and unlocking the benefit of every marginal gain.
That philosophy starts with Strati-Tex, our exclusive fabric technology.
Strati-Tex is developed around a simple objective: to help the body perform by managing moisture, supporting movement and keeping the wearer focused on the task ahead.
So, what’s behind the story of this game-changing fabric? Read on to find out.
ENGINEERED AROUND THE BODY
When we look at sporting performance, we don't just look at the athlete. We look at everything around them, and assess: How can we improve comfort at the main points of stress during exertion and repeated movement? How can we help manage heat and moisture? All of this with the singular goal of removing the small distractions, so the athlete can remain focused on performance.
Strati-Tex is engineered to wick moisture away from the body, helping to keep the wearer dry and focused. Its unique structure dynamically responds to movement, with internal tubes opening and closing to draw moisture away from the skin and enhance evaporation.
As the body works harder, our fabric works with it, not against it.
By managing moisture and supporting evaporation, Strati-Tex is designed to help maintain optimum body temperature, helping the wearer remain comfortable as performance demands more.
It is an example of how we approach every product at Strati: identify a problem, understand the body and engineer a solution.
RESEARCH-BASED DEVELOPMENT
Performance technology should do more than sound good on paper. It needs to perform when the body is working hard. That’s why we worked with Liverpool John Moores University to independently test a Strati-Tex base layer against five established alternatives, including products from some of the world’s best-known sportswear brands.
The study was designed to explore how effectively different base layers supported the body during exercise, with particular focus on temperature, moisture management, thermal comfort and perceived exertion. Participants completed a demanding 45-minute intermittent treadmill protocol incorporating walking, jogging, cruising and sprinting, with physiological and perceptual measurements taken throughout.
The results provided encouraging evidence for the thinking behind Strati-Tex.
Of all six base layers tested, Strati recorded the lowest average increase in garment weight following exercise — an important indicator when the objective is to prevent moisture becoming trapped within clothing.
Participants felt cooler and more comfortable in Strati, particularly as the session progressed, while their perceived level of exertion also tended to be lower. LJMU’s researchers concluded that, on average, participants wearing Strati felt “Just Comfortable”, between Neutral and Warm, and rated the exercise “Somewhat Hard” — with less favourable responses recorded across the other trials.
For us, it’s an exciting early indication of what Strati-Tex was engineered to deliver: less distraction from what you’re wearing, so you can focus on performance.
FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET
Another guiding principle of Strati is that our pursuit of marginal gains should be done whilst doing all we can to protect people and planet.
Strati-Tex begins life as something surprisingly ordinary: discarded plastic bottles. Once collected, the bottles are sorted, cleaned and shredded into small flakes before being processed into recycled polyester.
This material is melted and extruded into fine filaments, which can then be spun into yarn and engineered into performance fabric. From there, the yarn can be knitted and finished to deliver the stretch, durability and technical characteristics required of high-performance apparel. By transforming existing plastic waste into a valuable raw material, the process gives discarded bottles a new purpose — turning yesterday’s waste into a fabric designed to perform today.
FROM ELITE PERFORMANCE TO EVERYDAY ATHLETES
Our teams work hand in hand with individuals, clubs and organisations to develop bespoke technical product solutions, helping them harness the benefit of every marginal gain.but our ambition has always extended beyond elite sport. We are now bringing the same performance-led thinking into a complete range of consumer products for anyone who shares our belief that marginal gains can have a profound impact on maximum performance.
Whether you're competing at the highest level, training for your next challenge or simply demanding more from yourself, the principle remains the same. Better materials. Thoughtful design. Purposeful innovation.
Marginal Gains. Maximum Performance.
